VINTAGE CROP IN THE VINEYARDS FOR VALLEY ATHLETES

Round 4 of the 2024 Winter season set athletes against a largely technical course of tight turns, constant slopes and uneven surfaces as they worked their way around the scenic setting of St Anne’s Winery, Ravenswood. The rewards for the 35 Diamond Valley Athletic Club members (13 Female & 22 Male) who undertook the challenge were found in a range of individual and team results.

ROAD RACES AT ALBERT PARK_DVAC RESULTS

The third round of the Athletics Victoria 2024 Winter season was a road race set on the flat & fast course around the Formula 1 circuit at Albert Park. Racing over 3km and 10km distances in near perfect conditions the large fields of runners, over 1000 in the 10km and close to 200 in the 3km, finished their journey on the track at Lakeside Stadium. The 41 Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes (26 Open age and 15 Juniors) who raced managed to post impressive individual and team results.

2024 BINNAK BOWL

The 2024 Binnak Bowl attracted a field of 22 athletes for the Open 5km Handicap race and 12 athletes for the Junior 3km Handicap race. Elyse Scheuermann took out the Open 5km Handicap race & Erin Maloney won the Junior 3km Handicap race.

XCR'24 Rd 2: Cross Country at Hanging Rock

The haunting view of the craggy peaks of Hanging Rock and the intriguing mystery that is associated with the place did nothing to diminish the courage and achievements of the 37 Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes who ran the challenging courses set on the surrounding bush tracks. By the end of the meet, DVAC athletes had claimed two individual titles, two team victories, and strong results throughout the various categories.

VALLEY KICK STARTS THE CROSS COUNTRY SEASON WITH GOOD RESULTS

The 43 Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes who competed in the first round of theAthletics Victoria Winter season of Cross Country at Jells Park left satisfied that they had made a strong start DVAC fielded 13 teams (5 Female and 8 Male) from the 26 male & 17 females competing. There was a good balance of Open age athletes (23) and Juniors (20) with 6 Open age teams, 6 Junior teams as well as 2 Masters age group teams. Four athletes made their first appearance for Diamond Valley at Jells Park.

VALLEY ATHLETES AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thirty one DVAC athletes travelled to Adelaide to compete in the 2024 Australian Track & Field Championships held over nine days of competition. The Valley athletes won a total of 11 medals – 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze at the Championships. In 2023 DVAC was represented by 27 athletes who won a total of 6 medals.

A strong contingent of 36 DVAC athletes will soon be heading to Adelaide for the 2024 Australian Track & Field Championships to be held from 11th April to the 19th April 2024. The Roster for DVAC athletes competing at the Nationals is listed below.

DVAC RESULTS FROM APRIL SPECIALIST MEETS

Forget about the AFL ‘Gather Round’ in Adelaide this week – the real action is set to get under way with the 2024 Australian Track & Field Championships in Adelaide from Thursday 11th April until Friday 20th April 2024. Athletes from all over the nation will converge on the SA Athletics Stadium for the nine days of competition and there will be 32 DVAC athletes in the number.

VALLEY CLAIMS PREMIER DIVISION PREMIERSHIP

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club has won the 2023/2024 season in the Athletics Victoria Premier Division in the AVSL competition, making it back-to-back premierships. By the end of competition in Round 12, DVAC were on top of the Premier Division ladder for the ninth time in the season and five points clear of Eaglehawk. In Round 12 a total of 79 DVAC athletes (39 Female & 40 Male) turned out to press home the Valley claim to a season victory with the majority competing atDoncaster.

AV Shield season is over but Valley athletes have not stopped competing. Listed below are the results from a number of Specialist Meets held across March. Coming up - the DVAC Cross Country Trials & Registration Day on Saturday 20 April 2024 followed a week later by the first event of Athletics Victoria Winter season - the Cross Country Relays at Jells Park.

GOLD RUSH FOR DVAC AT VIC MASTERS

After an amazing season where both Mens and Womens 40+ teams won AVSL Age Group Premierships the Masters athletes ventured to Doncasterf for the Victorian Masters Athletics Championships held over the weekend. A Club record of 21 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals were won by the older Boys and Girls of the Valley.This beat the old record gold medal haul of 20 set two years ago.The Total of 40 Medals is an all time DVAC Masters record.

Q&A WITH KEELY & ELYSSIA, TRIVIA NIGHT, RESULTS

The 2024 Victorian Track & Field Championships are now over & it’s all systems go in the lead up to the 2024 Nationals that are to be held in Adelaide from April 11 – 19. There will be a large contingent of Valley juniors heading to Adelaide as well as a number of our Open age athletes. Two of these are Keely Boyne and Elyssia Kenshole. DVAC MEDAL HAUL AT VIC CHAMPS WEEKEND 2

By the end of Day 6 of the 2024 Victorian Track & Field Championships the 55 DVAC athletes who had competed over the two weekends of competition had won a total of 47 medals (18 Gold, 16 Silver and 13 Bronze). This tally set a new record for the Diamond Valley Athletic Club with the previous best medal haul coming in 2023 when the DVAC athletes collected a total of 40 medals. In 2022 DVAC athletes won 22 medals.

VALLEY ATHLETES SHINE AT VIC CHAMPS WK 1

For the 41 DVAC athletes (24 Female & 17 Male) who participated in Week 1 of the 2024 Victorian Track & Field Championships, the experience was a valuable chance to perform under the pressure of Championship conditions. The fact that the DVAC athletes won a total of 26 medals (10 Gold, 8 Silver and 8 Bronze) across the three days of competition and a majority of the athletes came away with either personal best performances or season best performances was evidence of success at the Valley.
