DVAC YELLOW GUM PARK HANDICAP

A total of 17 DVAC athletes raced at Yellow Gum with 8 Open athletes and 9 Junior athletes. Conditions at the Park were very good although the strong, cold winds tested the resilience of all who attended. It was great to have John Hertz on hand to hand out Trophies to all of the winners of the John Hertz Handicap.

VALLEY RUNNERS SHINE AT NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPS

Eight Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes (6 Male & 2 Female) competed at the 2025 Australian Cross Country Championships held at Victoria Park, Ballarat on Saturday 23 August 2025. The course at Victoria Park challenged athletes constantly around the 2km Loops & 3km Loops>

DVAC RESULTS AT BALLARAT 15km/6km ROAD RACES

It was such a good day at Lake Wendouree for Round 8 of the XCR25 season. The conditions were perfect for distance running and the 39 DVAC athletes (14 Female & 25 Male) who competed on the day came off the challenge of running the 6km or 15km courses in good spirits. Among the many highlights for the Valley, it was hard to go past the achievements of the DVAC Over 60 brigade who cleaned up bigtime.

LAKESIDE 10: RUSH HOUR FOR PB'S

The lack of sunshine was made up by the smiles of the many happy runners who had posted new personal best times. Of the 37 DVAC athletes (9 Female & 28 Male) who raced at Lakeside there were at least 18 beaming the sunshine smile after their new pb times. The shared joy over the positive DVAC team results added to the Valley reward for the early Sunday morning outing.

GOLDEN GLINTS UNEARTHED AT BALLARAT

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club had 38 athletes (16 Female & 22 Male) journey to Victoria Park, Ballarat to compete in Round 6 of the 2025 XCR season and by the end of competition there were plenty of smiles around the Valley tent. The smiles most commonly reflected the sense of individual achievement that comes with having tackled a technical and challenging course and required some courage to complete.

GOOD TIMES ROLL AT SANDOWN

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club enjoyed its best results for the current Winter season at the Sandown Road Relays. The results from the Round 5 event of the XCR25 season included a new club record for a 6.2km lap, a second placing in the Open Men Division 2, three podium placings, and a batch of other success across the board. As if that were not enough, the turnout of 58 DVAC athletes (21 Female & 37 Male) was equal to the best ever.

SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY ROUND-UP

Bundoora Park maintained its reputation as the home of Cross Country running in Victoria as well over 1000 students gathered on the slopes of Mt Cooper for the 2025 Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships. There were twelve races on a busy program with the largest field of 227 students in the second event, the Male Under 14 3km. Twelve DVAC athletes took part in the day where they represented their schools.

VALLEY TEAMS LAP UP THE SPEED AROUND THE LAKE

It was fast & wild from the start as just 1000 runners started the Lakeside: 5, from outside the Lakeside Stadium over two races. “I found that things did not settle down for over two kilometres. The runners were bunched up so tightly”, said DVAC’s fastest runner on the day, Vincent Donnadieu. Vincent was still happy to post his fastest 5km time, a 14:39, and many of the 41 DVAC athletes (15 Female & 41 Male) were also pleased with their 5km times at Lakeside.

XCR'25 RD 3: CROSS COUNTRY RELAYS AT JELLS PARK

All runners found the course at Jells Park to be full of challenges with the constant turns, hill climbs and prevailing wind cited as the main difficulties. DVAC finished the day represented by 16 teams (6 Female & 10 Male) with the greatest success claimed by the Female 60 team (Karen Quinn, Michelle King & Jo Moxon) claiming Gold and the Male 40 team (Dylan Littlejohn, Charles Jacobson & Craig Cassidy) winning the Silver medal.

XCR25 ROUND 2_CROSS COUNTRY AT MYRNIONG

The second round of the Athletics Victoria 2025 Cross Country season was set among the vineyards and surrounding acreage at St Anne’s Winery, Myrniong. Over four races, athletes were set distances of 4km, 7km and 12km that worked around the property. The 38 Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes (14 Female & 24 Male) were challenged by the distance, the hills, the wind and the rough terrain.

ROCKS, HILLS, HEAT - VALLEY WINS

The 43 DVAC athletes (17 Female, 26 Male) that journeyed to Hanging Rock for the opening round of Cross Country have succeeded in meeting all of the challenges to set up a season where individual and team success are possible. Most runners who completed the 5km or 8km courses were thoroughly exhausted by the time they crossed the finish line there was a sense of satisfaction and reward. They had been fully tested by the winding trail course, the hills and the heat on the day.

DVAC CROSS COUNTRY TRIALS AND RESULTS ROUND-UP

The 2025 Cross Country season gets under way on Saturday May 10th at Hanging Rock but the athletes at Diamond Valley have been busy on many fronts over the past week. Results from the Cross Country Trials, Boston Marathon, Ballarat Marathon, Masters Championships and Run the Tan all included below.

TUNING UP AT ALBERT PARK - DVAC RESULTS

The 2025 Australian Grand Prix may be over but there is still a lot of tuning up going on at Albert Park. This week there were nine DVAC athletes taking part in the High Velocity Club #5 and the AV Throwers #5 meets that were held at Lakeside. Most of the number are in the final stages of preparing for the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships that get under way on Friday 4th April 2025 in Perth.
