AVSL ROUND 1 - BRAVING THE ELEMENTS
Round 1 of the AV Shield League season was a wild ride for the Track & Field athletes who faced conditions more commonly associated with Cross Country. The athletes at Aberfeldie had to cope with bursts of heavy rain and wild winds that seemed to peak as Ella Littlehales (F20) was running in Heat 2 of the Female 800m’s. Despite the atrocious conditions, Ella typified the spirit of the 66 Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes (28 Female & 38 Male) by battling through to a brave finish.

WILLINDA CLASSIC: LAKER'S SUCCESSFUL RETURN
Glenhuntly Athletic Club distance runner, Kaleb Laker, made his third and most successful appearance at the Willinda Classic event when he powered home to victory in the 2024 Willinda Classic 10,000m Open race. At his previous two appearances at the Willinda Classic, Laker has clocked impressive runs over the 3000m distance and in the 2023 edition he finished 3rd in the 10,000m race in 32:28.2. This time there was no denying Laker the victory as he crossed the finish line in 31:27.7.

XCR24 RD 10: TAN RELAYS_DVAC RESULTS
The coldest September day since 2004 and 46 Valley athletes (15 Female & 31 Male) assembled early on Saturday 14th September to run a lap of the Tan. The Valley tent drew a crowd that sought some refuge from the cold before the Tan Relays commenced at 9:00am. Once the Relays got under way all complaints about the cold were forgotten as each athlete attacked the 3.8km loop with full intensity.

XCR'24 RD 9: ROAD RACES AT BURNLEY
The 36 Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes (12 Female & 24 Male) who took up the challenge of running either the Half Marathon or the 5km distances offered in Round 9 of the XCR’24 season had reason to be satisfied with their individual and team achievements.

Eight Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes competed in the 2024 Cross Country Championships on Saturday 31 August at Symmons Plains, Launceston. Driving to the course from Launceston, the backdrop of snow capped mountains should have been a warning that this Championship would be different.

DVAC SENDS A MESSAGE AT THE 2024 EKIDEN RELAYS.
Inspired by the Japanese tradition of Ekiden Relays, Round 8 of the Athletics Victoria Winter season saw teams of runners take on a number of different stages over a true Cross Country setting at the St Annes Winery, Myrniong. If the origin of the Ekiden was to transmit communication, then the message being delivered by the Diamond Valley Athletic Club athletes would have been that the 2024 Winter season is going well.

GOLDEN EFFORTS ON THE GOLDFIELDS OF BALLARAT
The Diamond Valley athletes who journeyed to Ballarat for Round 7 of the 2024 Winter season arrived ready to face the challenge of the longest race for the season so far. Round 7 of the Athletics Victoria 2024 Winter season was a Road Race set around Lake Wendouree at Ballarat over distances of 6km and 15km. In perfect conditions the junior athletes ran one 6km lap of the Lake while Open & Masters athletes ran a 3km loop followed by two laps of the Lake.
