LALITH – LAST MAN STANDING TAKES OUT GOLD

The DVAC involvement in this year’s Combined Events Championships was marked by the attrition brought on by the preparation and the competition that comes with the event. Asher Andrews (M20), a Gold medallist at last year’s Championships had to withdraw due to a serious ankle injury sustained at training. Toby Hamilton (M18) was another Valley athlete forced to withdraw due to injury.

That left Elizabeth Horne (F18) and Lalith Udugampala (M50) to arrive at Casey Fields Athletic Centre on the Saturday ready to take on two days of tough competition. By the end of the first day’s four event schedule, Elizabeth had an aggravated hamstring and despite holding a narrow lead she was unable to continue on the Sunday. Elizabeth had posted a pb result in the Shot Put with a distance of 10.03m.

Lalith Udugamala (M50) competed on both days and was the Gold medallist in the M50 Decathlon with a winning total of 2836pts.

TWO BAYS TRAIL RUN

Sunday 11 January 2026

The Two Bays Trail Run starts at Cape Schank and crosses the Mornington Peninsula to reach Dromana after 27.55km. For most of the runners that was enough but for DVAC distance runners, Dylan Littlejohn and Mikaela Gray and 344 other runners, that was only halfway. After ‘ringing the bell’ the pair retraced the mountain trails to reach Cape Schank after 56km. Mikaela completed the journey in 5hrs22:21min to place third in the Female 18-39 category while Dylan finished in 5hrs12:48mins to place 5th in the Male 40-49 category. Dylan had rung the bell at 2hrs34:34min while Mikaela had gone through the halfway mark in 2hrs35:27min.
