VALLEY JUNIORS SHINE AT AUSTRALIAN ALL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Twelve DVAC juniors (Female 4, Male 8) competed at last weekend’s Australian All Schools after having qualified through the Victorian All Schools Championships earlier this season. While the weather was certainly variable, there were lots of exciting performances, nine personal best results and a total of 7 medals (3 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze).

Jamie Ritchie (F15) defended her 200m title from the 2024 Championships in a thrilling race. Jamie backed up with a Silver medal in the 100m. Jamie’s winning time for the 200m was 24.44 and her time for the 100m in the final was 12.24.

Max Davidson (M16) won the 5000m Race Walk by a margin of 2 minutes to underline the dominance that he has had on the Race Walk events over recent years. His time of 21:56.83 establishes a new DVAC club record for the M16 & M17 age groups.

Steeplechasers William Quigley (M16) and Brodie Batt (M17) both came away from the All Schools with new pb’s for the event. William’s time of 6:13.69 sets new DVAC club records for the 76.2cm Steeple event. Brodie crossed in 6:26.36 to take 4 seconds off his previous best time over the 83.8cm barriers.

Kirra Wright (F36) smashed her own Australian record with the 3kg Shot Put when she produced a put of 8.41m with her last effort. The performance won Kirra a Gold medal and establishes a new club record. Kirra also won a Bronze medal in the 100m (15.35) and placed 4^th in the 200m (33.08).

Toby Hamilton (M16) experienced the highs and the lows of athletics over the weekend. A NM result in the Pole Vault – Toby came in a 3.60m and missed all three attempts – was softened by an exciting PB of 1.95m in the High Jump. This extends his own DVAC club record of 1.94m.
