VALLEY DISTANCE CREW BEAT THE CHRISTMAS RUSH

The seventeen DVAC distance runners who turned out to run at the Victorian Milers Club Meet #2 at Box Hill on Thursday 18 December had a remarkable strike rate of success. Over the 18 races they took part in there were 10 personal best times posted for the 800m & 1500m distances. All results were of high quality in a night of inspired racing.

Heidi Kuppler (F14) finished in second place in the B Heat of the Female 1500m in a time of 4:35.19. Her previous pb had come less than a week earlier when she was clocked at 4:44.21 in the Female U16 1500m race. Heidi’s time broke a long standing DVAC club record of 4:36.43 for the F14 1500m and is now also the fastest time recorded for the F15, F16 and F17 age groups.

Brodie Batt (M18) knows all about getting presents in December. Not only does he receive Christmas gifts but since his birthday comes late in December, Brodie doubles up for his birthday. This year Brodie got in early and crossed the line in 1:58.00 to score himself a qualifier for Nationals. This also broke a long standing DVAC club record for the M16 800m.

Samuel Reeve (M16) has spent time recently on the sidelines with injury but he was hitting top form at Box Hill with a 2:01.73 for the 800m.

A 59sec final lap got Caden Murray (M Open) back to a personal best time of 3:54.34 for the 1500m.

Jordan Rudd (M20) (T20) put in a spirited performance in his heat of the 1500m and came away with a 5 second pb when he crossed in 4:38.89.

Other pb’s over the 1500m at Box Hill came from the following runs: Ethan Armstrong-Bourne (M18) 4:04.12; Cameron Ellis (M20) 4:08.68; William Quigley (M16) 4:16.69; Myles Boyle (M16) 4:26.30; and Zoey Ryan (F18) 5:41.25.
