HIGH FLYING HAMILTON RAISES THE BAR

Toby Hamilton, 15, extended his best clearance in Pole Vault from 4.00m to 4.30m in a remarkable performance at the Rare Air ll Pole Vault meet at Lakeside on Thursday 20 November 2025. Toby had cleared 4.00m at the Victorian All Schools Championships on the 1st November 2025 when he won the Silver medal.

At the Rare Air meet on Thursday night, Toby cleared 3.60m, 3.75m, 3.90m, and 4.05m at the first attempt. At 4.20m Toby went over on his second attempt to equal the DVAC Open Men’s record set by Asher Andrews. Then at 4.30m, Toby went over at his first attempt to claim the DVAC Pole Vault records from U16 to Open. Toby had three attempts at 4.40m but without success.

Elyssia Kenshole (FOpen) came away from the same Meet happy that her season was getting away to a good start. Eyssia had sailed through to 4.20m with only the one hitch at 3.90m. At 4.20m Elyssia went over at the first attempt. The three attempts at 4.35m were full of promise without the reward but the signs were all good for the future. Elyssia holds the DVAC club record at 4.30m.

Gaelyne Kenshole, F55, backed up her Pole Vault clearance of 2.65m in Round 4 with a clearance of 2.60m at the Rare Air meet.

Caden Murray (MOpen) went into the Championship heat at the Victorian 5000m Championships with a pb of 4:37.35 and hopes of lowering that time. After twelve and a half laps, most run at 69/ 68 seconds, Caden crossed the finish line in 14:15.70. Despite a tightly packed field at the head of the race, Caden was able to maintain a very consistent pace, going through the km splits in 2:51, 2:53, 2:52, 2:52 and 2:46.

Caden said after the race, “I deliberately ran wide for much of the first half of the race because I’m not the best at handling a tight pack around me. It did allow me to run freely, though.” Caden came home strongly, running the last lap in 61 seconds and finished in 10th position in the field of 20. Caden will now be looking for a race that might help him reach a qualifying time of 14:05.0 to get to Nationals.

William Quigley, 15, set a new DVAC club record for the MU16 over 5000m when he finished in 15:57.10 in the B race for the MU20 at the Victorian 5000m Championships. William went out at a fast pace, going through the 3000m in 9:30 and had to work hard over the latter stages of the race. William’s previous best time for the 5000m was 16:55:47.

Rhodri Whelan, 18, lowered his time for the 5000m to 16:43.67 at the Lakeside meet.

MURRAY IN A HURRY AT VMC #1

Caden Murray has lowered his pb for the 3000m to 8:20.47 with an impressive display of sustained pace at the first Milers Club meet at Sandringham.

The field of 20 travelled in tight formation for most of the first kilometre before Caden was able to find some clear air by running wide. Going through the first kilometre in 2:47, Caden was able to maintain laps of 67/68 seconds as he moved past several other runners to eventually cross in third position. Caden had run the second kilometre in 2:50 before completing the third kilometre in 2:43 and post an eight second pb.

The current DVAC club record for the Men Open 5000m is held by Jaryd Clifford at 7:56.31

Caden will run in the Victorian 5000m Championships at Lakeside Stadium next Thursday evening. It was at this Meet last year that Caden set his current 5000m personal best time of 14:37.35.

Myles Boyle, U16, lowered his time for the 3000m to 9:26.85 and Brodie Batt completed the distance in 9:17.89.

The next Milers Club meet is set for Thursday 18th December at Box Hill and will feature the 800m and 1500m distances.
