VALLEY JUNIORS CONTINUED SUCCESS AT ALL SCHOOLS
Thirty three DVAC juniors (10 Female, 23 Male) competed in the Week 2 events of the 2025 Victorian Track & Field Championships held at Lakeside on Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 November 2025. Over the course of the program, the DVAC juniors who were representing 22 different schools, won a total of 16 medals – 6 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze.
Club records set
Conditions at Lakeside were generally good and while the distance athletes found the heat tough the performances were of a high standard. Three new DVAC Club records were set on the weekend:
Kirra Wright established a new record for the T36 200m with her time of 31.84.
Asher Andrews (U20) extended the DVAC MU20 Pole Vault record for the U19 & U20 to 4.20m. After clearing this at the first attempt, Asher had three attempts at 4.30m.
Toby Hamilton (U16) cleared 4.00m at the Pole Vault to extend his own DVAC MU16 & 17 club record and share the MU18 record with Asher Andrews.
Jamie Ritchie (U15) raced to a thrilling win in the FU15 200m in a time of 24.12 (0.4) to break her own DVAC record set at 24.42 at the Nationals this year. It also replaces the club records for the U16 & U17 age groups.
MAKING FINALS
A feature of the weekend was the number of Valley juniors making finals in the 200m & 800m events. In the 200m races, as well as Elizabeth Horne (U20) & Jamie Ritchie (U15) who won their age groups over the 200m, there were another five athletes who won their way into a final.
In the 800m races, as well as Samuel Reeve, a Silver medallist in the MU15 final, there were also four other DVAC athletes who managed to get past the Heat stage and reach a Final. This made for one of the most successful Championships for the Valley juniors.

CLUB HELPERS
DVAC filled the majority of the Club Helper shifts allocated to it over the two days and can be proud of its record. A HUGE vote of Thanks goes to the following people for helping out on the weekend: LUKE HAMILTON, ALICIA SPITTLE (2 shifts), LYN DAVIS, KATE RYAN, MAX BALCHIN, MATT HALL, & REBECCA QUIGLEY.
I would like to add what a great job AV does in running these Championship events. Every effort is made to provide the young athletes with a quality experience as they compete.
Certainly, the care & direction that is provided to the Club Helpers was outstanding.
