AVSL RD 6 BRINGS EARLY CHRISTMAS CHEER TO THE VALLEY

There was much to celebrate for the athletes & supporters of the Diamond Valley Athletic Club at the final round of Shield athletics before the Christmas break. The 82 scoring athletes (36 Female & 46 Male) earned a total of 47,763 points to finish in second place on the Premier Division ladder for the Round. DVAC will now go in to the break 10 points behind ladder leader Eaglehawk and still with a premiership chance should all go well with the remaining rounds that will include the DVAC Powerplay.

Two of the DVAC Age Division teams topped the points in their division in Round 6: these were the Female 40+ and the FU18 teams. Going into the break, the Men 18 and the Female 40+ teams top their Division ladders with the FU20, F50+, MU16, and the M60+ squads all holding down second place on the season ladder.

The F18 squad that won their first round for the season included Elisha Blair, Daisy Whyte, Liv Nicholls, Zoey Ryan, Kirra Wright, Georgia L’Estrange, Lucy Johns, Hanna Rowe and Arianna Krebs.

The winning F40+ score was produced by the mighty trio ofVictoria Lindores, Meg Nicholls, Kate Ryan.

The M16 team earned the highest points tally of 7,113 for DVAC yet they had to settle for third place in their division for the Round, such is the fierceness of the competition in the Junior divisions.

The DVAC Age Division teams finished as follows:

Female – Open 16th/37; U20 3rd/20, U18 1st/34; U16 12th/41; U14 9th/38; 40+ 1st/30; 50+ 4th/ 28; 60+ 6th/18

Male – Open 6th/ 43; U20 3rd/34; U18 6th/37; U16 3rd/38; U14 10th/33; 40+ 9th/34; 50+ 12th/34; 60+ 3rd/33.

JORDAN LEADS THE WAY

The MVA ladder for DVAC for Round 6 confirmed something that all at the Doncaster venue were privileged to witness – that M20 T20 athlete, Jordan Rudd had a very special day of track & field athletics. Jordan led Heat 2 of the 3000m for most of the race and recorded a pb time of 10:24.15. In the 800m Jordan again went out hard and held on to score a memorable win in 2:13.27. A speedy 200m at 25.32 and Jordan had racked up a total of 1,041 points to lead all at the Valley on the MVA ladder. The Valley salutes you, Jordan.

THE 400 CLUB IS GROWING

There were two individual performances that scored over 400 points in Round 5. This week DVAC had eleven achieve the same elite level of performance. In order the high scoring performances were: Jamie Ritchie (F16) 200m 24.67 (497); Matilda Johnson (F16) 800m 2:13.33 (482); Heidi Kuppler (F14) 800m 2:21.49 (465); Aria-Rose Cerqueira (F14) 200m 27.50 (437); Keely Boyne (FOpen) 100m 12.30 (434); Eadie Raso (F14) 400m 65.05 (431); Thomas Short (M18) 800m 1:58 (426); Brodie Batt (M18) 800m 1:59.64 (419); Kirra Wright (F18)34.12 (418); (Caden Murray (MOpen) 3000m 8:29.57 (416); Toby Hamilton (M16) 200m 24.14 (408)
