Jaryd wins Silver in 5000m

Jaryd Clifford was in shock. As he crossed the line in second place in the men’s 5000m T13, the 22-year-old was physically exhausted. He staggered around, briefly congratulated his competitors, and then, as the commentator David Culbert put it, Clifford went off for a moment to lose his lunch.

The 22 DVAC athletes that lined up for Round 4 of the XCR’21 season at Cruden Farm were faced with the toughest challenge of the season so far. The six juniors that ran in the first race on the program came back with loads of good advice.

DVAC Binnak Bowl

Sarah Leeming was the 2021 winner of the Binnak Bowl. To sweeten the deal Maryann Murray had filled the glass ‘Bowl’ with Chocolates. Sarah stormed home to take the lead inside the final 200m. She was followed in by Damien Clifford who just managed to hold off a fast finishing Ally Brooks. A memorable finish!

XCR'21 Round 2: Lardner Park

Seventeen DVAC athletes travelled to Lardner Park, Warragul for the second round of the XCR'21 season and were well rewarded for their efforts over a tough and testing Cross Country course. Set on the 300 acres of Lardners Park, Warragul, the course wound its way through steep hills, across a ditch with wet and slippery patches as well as a fence that had to be cleared before the runners headed back down to the finish line.

VIC CHAMPS WEEK-END 2

Week 2 of the 2021 Victorian Track & Field Championships produced the best Gold rush for Diamond Valley since the original gold finding at Diamond Creek in 1863. Valley athletes stepped up on the podium to present themselves with the winner's medal on eight occasions. There were also three Silver medals and five Bronze medals won over the course of the second weekend of the Championships at Lakeside. VIC CHAMPS WEEK-END 1

Twenty seven DVAC athletes – 14 Women & 13 Men – competed in the 2021 Victorian Track & Field Championships held at Lakeside Stadium from Friday 19 February through to Sunday 21 February 2021. By the time competition ended on Sunday afternoon, the Valley athletes had won a total of twelve medals – 3 Gold, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze. AV Shield League Round 1

The long awaited return of athletics was welcomed by Diamond Valley athletics community with a good turn-out at Round 1 of the Athletics Victoria Shield League season. The majority of the DVAC competing athletes headed to the Doncaster venue for Round 1. The COVID safe return to athletics saw each of the four Metropolitan venues conduct the four event program over four separate hour long sessions with COVID precautions applied to each event.
