DVAC RESULTS ROUNDUP inc MELBOURNE MARATHON & DVAC WINTER AWARDS

The DVAC results from the Melbourne Marathon, Box Hill Twilight, Victorian Milers Club #1, Rare Air #1 and a complete list of the award winners from the DVAC Winter season Presentation Night are all listed below. As well, Shania Murray shares her thoughts on running her first Marathon.

DVAC WINS THE POINTS IN ROUND 4 OF THE AVSL SEASON

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club has won top points in the Premier League for Round 4 of the Athletics Victoria Shield League season. DVAC finished Round 4 with 48,071 points ahead of Eaglehawk on 47,366 points. DVAC had 77 athletes compete in Round 4 (37 Female & 40 Male). The season ladder now sees DVAC in second place on 37 points behind Eaglehawk on 47 points. Eaglehawk have already played their Powerplay that doubles the round score while DVAC is yet to play their Powerplay.

2023 VIC ALL SCHOOLS T&F CHAMPS_WK2 DVAC RESULTS

Week 2 of the 2023 Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships was a highly successful experience for the Diamond Valley Athletic Club juniors who competed at Lakeside. The 35 athletes (25 Female & 10 Male) won medals galore (23 in all – 5 Gold, 10 Silver and 8 Bronze) over the two day competition. These numbers when combined with Week 1 (33 athletes & 20 medals) highlight the talent that the juniors at DVAC possess.

TOP MARKS FOR VALLEY ATHLETES AT ALL SCHOOLS

There were 32 DVAC juniors (21 Girls & 11 Boys) who competed over the two days of Weekend #1 of the All Schools Championships. Among this group of athletes there were a total of 20 medals won (12 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze) over the two days of competition. This compared with the 29 competing athletes in 2022 who won a total of 17 medals.

AVSL RD 3: PAORA POWERS UP

Diamond Valley Athletic Club field athlete, Paora Okirua, 15, stepped up to his first competition for the current AVSL season in Round 3 and quickly demonstrated why he is a national Shot Put champion. Competing in the Shot Put at the Casey venue, Paora best effort with the 4kg Shot was 18.13m. This was the first time over 18m for Paora and was scored at 526 points on the AVSL points system. It sets a new DVAC club record for the Men Under 16.

AVSL RD 2: GREAT TEAM EFFORT MAKES FOR SCOREBOARD SUCCESS

The success experienced by the Diamond Valley Athletic Club in Round 2 of the Athletics Victoria Shield League 2023/2024 season was the result of a combined effort across all age groups of the club. DVAC finished on top of the Premier League scoreboard with a total of 59,988 points well clear of Eaglehawk who were second for the round with 49,714 points. The Valley total was built from the efforts of all 92 athletes (43 Women & 49 Men) who wore the club colours at the Doncaster or Casey venues.

AVSL RD 1: DVAC RESULTS

Round 1 of the AV Shield League saw the Diamond Valley Athletic Club kick the 2023/2024 season off to a positive start with a top of the ladder effort. By the end of competition DVAC was in top position on the ladder in the AVSL Premier Division. The combined total of points scored by the performances of the 83 DVAC athletes (39 Women & 44 Men) was a whopping 53,183. This put the Valley just on 7000 points clear of their nearest rival, Eaglehawk.

2023 WILLINDA CLASSIC

Two Diamond Valley Athletic Club records in the 10,000m Track event fell to sister and brother athletes, Shania & Caden Murray at the 2023 edition of the Willinda Classic, an evening program of distance running at Willinda Park. Other DVAC records fell in the 3000m & 1000m All Abilities races that were featured on the Willinda Classic program.

2023 TAN RELAYS - DVAC RESULTS

WINNING WAYS AT THE WINTER WIND UP The Diamond Valley Athletic Club has ended the 2023 Winter season with three premierships and one Champion Athlete award. The winter premierships were won by the Women Under 16, the Women Under 18 and the Men 60+ (Short Course). At the final event on the 2023 Winter calendar, the Tan Relays, the DVAC Women Under 18 & Women Under 16 teams sealed their premierships with decisive victories.

XCR Rd 9: Half Marathon & 5km Road Race

In near perfect conditions for the running of the Athletics Victoria Half Marathon and 5km Road Races on Sunday 3rd September, it was the hot form of the Diamond Valley Athletic Club juniors that provided many of the highlights. Of the 41 Valley athletes who competed in the penultimate event on the winter calendar, 20 were juniors who were set to run a 5km Road Race. There were three DVAC juniors who won individual medals and 4 DVAC junior teams that were placed in the top three for the Round. A

2023 AUSTRALIAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Eight DVAC juniors travelled to Mount Stroll, Canberra to compete in the 2023 Australian Cross Country Championships. Heidi Kuppler won the Girls 11 Years 3000m Championship. Team medals were won by Heidi Kuppler, Matilda Johnson and Jordan Rudd.

XCR RD 8: EKIDEN RELAYS_DVAC’S RICH HARVEST ON THE HILLS

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club reaped its best harvest for the XCR23 season in Round 8 on the slopes of the St Annes Winery estate. The 50 DVAC athletes (19 Women & 31 Men) who took part in the Ekiden Relay had to dig deep on their reserves of courage to negotiate the testing hills that threw new challenges at them around every turn. Four medals & great team results were earned by the Valley.

Winter Success set up at Wendouree

The success of the 2023 Winter season for the Diamond Valley Athletic Club was confirmed by a strong showing at the Road Races around Lake Wendouree on Sunday 6th August. Despite the early start at Ballarat on a Sunday morning there were still 40 DVAC athletes (14 Female & 26 Male) present to fly the club colours in either the 6km Road Races or the 15km Road Races.

XCR23 Round 6_CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS AT BUNDOORA PARK

It was a huge day of Cross Country racing at Bundoora Park on Saturday 22 July 2023. The Schools moved out and the action continued with the 10km races as well as the Under 20 events. DVAC emerged from the action pleased with the good team results.

2023 VICTORIAN ALL SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Eighteen junior members of the Diamond Valley Athletic Club (10 Girls & 8 Boys) represented their schools to compete in the 2023 Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships. In the busiest day of Cross Country running for the year there were 1,063 students flying the colours of their school in the 6 different age groups that were set the challenge to cover distances of 3km, 4km or 6km over the hills of Bundoora Park. VALLEY OUT IN FORCE AT SANDOWN_XCR23 RD 5

Round 5 of the XCR23 season saw 51 DVAC athletes take one or two turns around the 3.1km circuit at Sandown. There was an abundance of teamwork and endeavour as each athlete battled to circuit and the wind.

Another strong turn out by the Diamond Valley Athletic Club for XCR'23 Round 4 at Cruden Farm. On a true test of Cross Country running over the windswept slopes of Cruden Farm and the Valley athletes passed with flying colours.
