The Willinda 10km Classic gives runners the opportunity to run 10km on the track at Willinda park in Greensborough on Tuesday evening,  30th November 2021. The Willinda Classic will offer both 3000m and 10,000m events. The event supported by Athletics Victoria will enable athletes to also qualify for the Zatopek 10km National Championship.

The Diamond Valley Athletic Club is holding on to 4th place in the Premier League of the Athletics Victoria Shield League but we will be facing a tough challenge to hold the position. DVAC has made a mighty achievement in the first three rounds to be in the top four: the next three rounds, leading up to the Christmas break will determine if we can qualify for the 2021/2022 AV Shield Finals to be held on Saturday 5 March 2022 by staying in the top four.

Round 2 of the Athletics Victoria Shield League season was an excellent day at the office for the Diamond Valley Athletic Club. After finishing 5th on the Premier League ladder at the end of Round 1, the DVAC team (35 Women & 32 Men) racked up a total 42,581 points for Round 2, placing the club third on the table for the round. The 8 points gained for Round 2 combined with the 5 points from Round 1 sees the Valley edge ahead of Doncaster at the end of Round 2 with 14 points to 13.

By the end of competition the Valley was listed 5th on the 10 team Premier League ladder. This gave our club 6 valuable points for the Round. A year ago, DVAC finished Round 1 in 8th position and earned only 3 points. It was a long hard slog before DVAC worked clear of the threat of relegation and finished the 2020/ 2021 season in 5th place. This year we are much better situated to build toward a top four spot on the ladder and the right to take part in the AVSL finals.

Well done to the 31 runners and walkers who joined the first event in the virtual DVAC season. It was great to see current members, family and friends give the 3km a crack.

Jaryd takes silver in the T12 Marathon in a time of 2:26:09, his third medal of the games after his silver in the 5000m and bronze in the 1500m.

Jaryd Clifford was in shock. As he crossed the line in second place in the men’s 5000m T13, the 22-year-old was physically exhausted. He staggered around, briefly congratulated his competitors, and then, as the commentator David Culbert put it, Clifford went off for a moment to lose his lunch.

The 22 DVAC athletes that lined up for Round 4 of the XCR’21 season at Cruden Farm were faced with the toughest challenge of the season so far. The six juniors that ran in the first race on the program came back with loads of good advice.

Sarah Leeming was the 2021 winner of the Binnak Bowl. To sweeten the deal Maryann Murray had filled the glass ‘Bowl’ with Chocolates. Sarah stormed home to take the lead inside the final 200m. She was followed in by Damien Clifford who just managed to hold off a fast finishing Ally Brooks. A memorable finish!

Seventeen DVAC athletes travelled to Lardner Park, Warragul for the second round of the XCR'21 season and were well rewarded for their efforts over a tough and testing Cross Country course. Set on the 300 acres of Lardners Park, Warragul, the course wound its way through steep hills, across a ditch with wet and slippery patches as well as a fence that had to be cleared before the runners headed back down to the finish line.

Week 2 of the 2021 Victorian Track & Field Championships produced the best Gold rush for Diamond Valley since the original gold finding at Diamond Creek in 1863. Valley athletes stepped up on the podium to present themselves with the winner's medal on eight occasions. There were also three Silver medals and five Bronze medals won over the course of the second weekend of the Championships at Lakeside. Added to the three Gold, six Silver and three Bronze medals won at Weekend 1 of the Championship

Twenty seven DVAC athletes – 14 Women & 13 Men – competed in the 2021 Victorian Track & Field Championships held at Lakeside Stadium from Friday 19 February through to Sunday 21 February 2021. By the time competition ended on Sunday afternoon, the Valley athletes had won a total of twelve medals – 3 Gold, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze. The long awaited return of athletics was welcomed by Diamond Valley athletics community with a good turn-out at Round 1 of the Athletics Victoria Shield League season. The majority of the DVAC competing athletes headed to the Doncaster venue for Round 1.
