THE VALLEY CLOSES THE GAP WITH ROUND 7 WIN
After winning the top points in the Premier Division for Round 7 the Diamond Valley Athletic Club remains in second position on the 2025/2026 season ladder but the chances of winning a Premiership for the Summer season have improved. With four rounds of AVSL season remaining, including the DVAC Power Play in Round 9, the outcome is really in the hands of the DVAC athletes. If athletes show the kind of support demonstrated in Round 7 then the Valley is in good shape to claim a Premiership.
DVAC is now 8 points behind the club on top of the Premier Division ladder and 7 points clear of third place. Both teams have already used their Power Play. The Power Play doubles the points scored by the club using it for that Round. If DVAC can win Round 9 then the ten points becomes 20 points. On paper, that gives DVAC a real chance so long as the athletes get behind the push for all of the final four rounds.
A total of 71 athletes (31 Female & 39 Male) wore the Valley colours at the Meadowglen & Knox venues in Round 7. Their combined efforts won a total of 52,297 points for the round. That was the second highest total for the season so far and the average of points earned by each athlete was a season high of 736 points. The total of points earned was over 6000 points clear of the next placed club. A mighty effort!
FIVE DVAC AGE GROUPS HEAD THE STATE FOR ROUND 7
A season high total of 5 DVAC Age Groups headed the AVSL for their Division. The winning DVAC divisions were:
M60+:A winning total of 5,752 points was the highest by any of the DVAC ‘teams’. This gave the Valley team their first win for the season. They stay in second position on the season ladder. Luke De Biasi led the way with a total of 1204 points with great performances in the 100m, Javelin & Long Jump.
M16:A win over top placed team, Casey Cardinia with a total of 5,705 points. Remain in second place on the season ladder & have a 3000 point deficit to make up. Samuel Thompson scored highly in the 100m & 400m to lead the team scores with a total of 827.
M18:Top of the season ladder and increased their hold on top spot in Round 7 with a total of 5,176 points. Janusz Kubicki gathered a total of 1,025 points with impressive performances in the 100m, High Jump & Long Jump.
F20:Second placed on the season ladder but a win in Round 7 with a total of 3,358 points thanks to the efforts of Vanessa Smith, Tara Smith, Mackenzie Genders, Katie Oliver and Ella Littlehales. The team will continue in second place.
F40+:Victoria Lindores and Meg Nicholls (with help from Jo Moxon and Sarah Gittins in the Relay) continued their stranglehold on the season premiership by gathering a total of 1,996 points over the eight individual events the pair completed in a busy day at the ‘office’. They lead the season ladder by over 4000 points. We salute you!
