CARNIVAL OF CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING

Bundoora Park maintained its reputation as the home of Cross Country running in Victoria as well over 1000 students gathered on the slopes of Mt Cooper for the 2025 Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships. There were twelve races on a busy program with the largest field of 227 students in the second event, the Male Under 14 3km. Twelve DVAC athletes took part in the day where they represented their schools.

The announced policy of Athletics Victoria to select 12 athletes in each age group will have a number of the Valley athletes facing a nervous wait as they hang on the announcement of the teams by AV.

The standard of performance throughout the day was exceptionally high. It was racing at its best.

Cameron Ellis was working hard in his role as Captain of the Whitefriars College Cross Country team. He then ran a strong race in the MU20 8km Cross Country race.

Asher Knuckey, DVAC’s newest junior member arrived to represent St Helena SC and did well in the MU16 4km race.

Thanks to David Armstrong, the Valley Tent was in prime position by the start line. It was welcomed by the Valley athletes & their parents although the weather throughout the day was excellent. Paul Schofield & Shania Murray were out on the course in their role as AV Officials.

The 2025 Australian Cross Country Championships will be held in Victoria Park, Ballarat on Saturday 23 August. Age Groups U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18, U20, Open (incl.
