TOUGH GRADUATION AT ALL SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY

Lining up at the Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships is always a challenging prospect but in 2026 the demands of the day and the course made the event even more demanding. On a cold, wet day the course started out slippery and finish up muddy in stretches. By the end of the day there were parts of the course where staying upright was as hard as going forward.

There were 18 DVAC Juniors (8 Female & 10 Male) who ran at this year’s Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships at Bundoora Park on Saturday 20 June 2026. Apart from being the pinnacle of the winter season of Cross Country racing for all school students the event is a selection trial for the National Championships to be held in Ballarat at Victoria Park on Saturday 22 August 2026. The selection policy of Athletics Victoria is set out below.

The Uncloud Victorian All Schools XCR Cross Country Championships on Saturday June 20th (Bundoora Park) will be the selection trial for the U12-U18 team. The XCR’26 Round6: XC:10, 10km Victorian Cross Country Championships on Saturday July 11th (Bundoora) will be the selection trial for the U20 and Open team.

24 athletes will be selected for each age group, 12 Male, 12 Female. Selection is determined by an athlete finishing order, thus the first 10 athletes to cross the line will represent Athletics Victoria, those 10 individuals will be selected. The final 2 spots will be made available for discretionary selections.

Athletics Victoria will approve and enter ‘Additional Competitors’ (AC) from registered club members or bona fide school students who will wear club or school uniform. This number is unlimited but cut off times will be provided to ensure a national standard of competition, as listed in National Cut-Off Times below.

Based on these policies, DVAC has four athletes who will be selected to represent Victoria at the National Championships in August. These athletes are Heidi Kuppler (1st G15), Matilda Johnson (7th G17), Rose Jarvis (6th G18), and William Quigley (9th M17).

The Valley Tent proved to be a most valuable facility throughout the day, offering shelter & dry storage for the DVAC athletes. Thanks so much to David Armstrong who gave the Valley family prime location on the Start line once again. Thanks also to the pack up crew at the end of the day.

Results for all the DVAC athletes are listed below.
