At the end of competition, the only DVAC team to be among the medals was the Men Under 18 team of Josip Milovac, James White and Amos Fun. The team were placed third in a very competitive division.
Rory Kelham made his first appearance in Valley colours and recorded the fastest lap for the junior men with a time of 10:22. Rory and his brother, Andrew, only arrived in Australia from Scotland on Wednesday, trained at Willinda Park on Thursday and raced at Sandown on Saturday. Jetlag? Not likely! A Valley welcome to both Rory and Andrew.
Sarah Leeming ran the quickest lap for the junior women with a time of 13:57.
Paul Townsend, U18, ran in the Men's Division 3 team and set the best time for the DVAC men over the 6.2km with a time of 21:11. Townsend was fresh from representing Victoria at the National Cross Country Championships held in Brisbane where he finished in 22nd spot in the Men's U18 6km race.
Lauren Crowe, also back from representing Victoria at the National Cross Country Championships, set the fastest time over the 6.2km for the open women with a time of 23:43.
Only two events remain on the 2010 Cross Country calendar, a Half Marathon at Burnley on Sunday 5th September and the Tan relays at King's Domain on Saturday 18th September.
Thanks to all who helped out with the time keeping on the day. It was a great display of team spirit. This was also evident with the happy gathering in the Grandstand after the day's racing. Well done to our Cross Country captain, Robin Broberg, on his organisation of the day. There were a number of last second changes, but everyone responded magnificently and the day went very well.
